«The Center of Negativity» explores unwelcome emotions and the question of why art is full of them. Do artists suffer so much because they have to make art? Or do they make art to fight against their suffering? At auawirleben, the Center offers one-to-one talks in which you can discuss your own negative emotions, thoughts and behaviour patterns with the institute's representative Roger Fähndrich. However, the aim here is not to reduce these like you would in a therapy session, but on the contrary: here your personal negativity is certified. According to your suitability, you will receive a diploma, portfolio or a letter of recommendation.
On 15.5. a closing moment will take place at 17:00 in the festival centre. Here, the diploma candidates will receive their diplomas and, if applicable, share their individual stories and experiences. The Closing Moment is also an opportunity for a wider audience who has not participated in a session to gain an insight into the project. Afterwards there will be the opportunity to talk to the artist over a beer in the festival centre.

Roger Fähndrich from Bern is an artist, musician and performer living in Brussels. After a BA in Fine Arts at the HKB, he completed an MA at the KASK in Ghent. On 7.5. he will also be playing a gig at the Festival Club Grosse Halle as Roger F. & The Structure.
